Turkestan is the given name for the area that includes Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, and Afghanistan, which gained independence after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Following the collapse of the Tsarist regime in the region, various initiatives were taken to establish a common state that would gather the people who had settled in Turkestan under one roof. However, these acts were not successful as a result of the political conjuncture of the period.
In this study we are examing ‘Turkestan Union’ which was brought up in former Republic but unfortunately still couldn’t take its final shape after dissolution of Soviet Union in 1991. Other topics are economic and political Co-operation in the 21st century which is starting from the years of independence of the republics of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan and the idea of integration in Turkistan in terms of past, present and future would be mentioned.
