Antalya'nın İlk Kadın Milletvekili Türkan Örs Baştuğ'un 5. Dönem TBMM'deki Faaliyetleri

Türkan Örs Baştuğ 1900´de Üsküdar´da doğmuştur. Babası Mehmet Sabri Bey, annesi Abide Hanım´dır. İlk ve ortaöğrenimini Bezmialem Lisesi, yüksek öğrenimini ise Darülfunun Felsefe şubesinde tamamlamıştır. Feyziati (Boğaziçi) Lisesi'nde öğretmenlik mesleğine başlamış, 10 yıl kadar bu okulda öğretmenlik ve idarecilik yapmıştır. Genellikle okulda yatılı kalmış, sürekli öğrencileriyle birlikte olmuştur. Kadınlara seçme seçilme hakkı verilince milletvekilliğine adaylığını koymuş, 5. Dönem Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi'ne Antalya milletvekili olarak seçilmiştir. 6. Dönemde de milletvekilliği devam etmiştir. Baştuğ, 5. dönem milletvekilliği süresince maarif encümeninde görev yapmıştır. Bu encümen adına hazırlanan 16 mazbatada imzası bulunmaktadır. 2 adet muhtelit encümen mazbatasının hazırlanmasına da katkı sağlamıştır. Bu dönemde meclis genel kurulunda sadece iki konuşma yapmıştır. Baştuğ, 1937'de Bekir İzzet Örs ile evlenmiş olup bu evlilik 9 yıl sonra 1946´da sona ermiştir. Milletvekilliği sona erince 1943´te Ankara Atatürk Lisesi Felsefe öğretmenliğine atanmıştır. Bu görevden 5 Ekim 1963´te emekliye ayrılmıştır. 27 Eylül 1975´te vefat etmiştir.

Türkan Örs Baştuğ was born in Üsküdar in 1900. Her father was Mehmet Sabri Bey, and her mother was Abide Hanım. She completed her primary and secondary education in Bezmialem High School, and her higher education in the department of Philosophy in Darülfunun. She started teaching profession in Feyziati (Bosporus) High School, and she worked as a teacher and manager for about 10 years in this school. She generally stayed at school and she was always with her students. When women were enfranchised the right to vote and be elected was given to women, she was a candidate in the election and she was elected as a deputy from Antalya in the 5th Period of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. She also continued her deputyship in the 6th Period. Baştuğ worked in the education committee during the 5th period. There was her signature in 16 protocols of election prepared on behalf of this .She also contributed to the preparation of 2 combined committee protocols this period, she addressed speech only twice in the parliamentary counsel general assembly of the parliament. Baştuğ got married to Bekir İzzet Örs in 1937, and after 9 years, this marriage ended in 1946. She was appointed as a Philosophy teacher to Ankara Atatürk High School in 1943 when her duty as a deputy ended. She retired from this duty on 5 October 1963. She died on 27 September 1975.
