Bir İngiliz Diplomatın Gözlemleriyle Türkiye´nin Doğu Vilayetlerinin 1956 Yılındaki Genel Durumu

Çağdaş İngiliz hariciyesinin önemli isimlerinden biri olan Anthony D. Parsons´un, İngiltere´nin Ankara Büyükelçiliğinde henüz genç bir diplomat iken Türkiye´nin doğu vilayetlerine düzenlemiş olduğu gezi ve bu gezideki gözlemlerine dayalı olarak yazdığı rapor, bize geleneksel İngiliz dış siyasetinin şekillenmesinde önemle dikkate alınan elçilik raporlarını hatırlatmaktadır. Bu araştırmayla, 1956 yılında gerçekleşen gezide kaleme alınan notların sunulduğu raporun içerdiği; söz konusu dönemin siyaset-seçmen ilişkisi, demografik yapı, iktisadi ilişkiler ve antropolojik özellikler gibi konuların incelenmesi dolayımıyla Demokrat Parti dönemi tarih incelemeleri literatürüne katkı sunulması amaçlanmıştır.

The report that Anthony D. Parsons, one of the most important names in the contemporary English foreign office, wrote based on his observations of the trip organized in the eastern provinces of Turkey while he was a young diplomat in the British Embassy in Ankara reminds us of embassy reports which are taken into account in the formation of traditional British foreign policy. With this research, it is aimed to contribute to the literature of the Democratic Party's history by examining the report in which the notes of the political-electorate relation, demographic structure, economic relations and anthropological characteristics of the period in question taken in the trip in 1956.
