Daily Life of a Sultan´s Mother in the Seventeenth Century: Vâlide Hadîce Turhan Sultan
This article examines the estate book of Hadîce Turhan Sultan, the mother of Ottoman Sultan IV. Mehmed (1648-1687). Compiled after her death, the estate book contains a detailed list of all her belongings and reflects the lifestyles of women in the Ottoman harem. Her living and bedroom furniture, her clothes and the type of their fabrics, her furs, jewels, clocks and make up materials as well as the kitchen utensils, coffee sets, cups, spoons and glasses are listed on her estate book. In conclusion, her belongings reflect that Hadîce Turhan Sultan lived a life that match to the power and glory of the Ottoman Empire.

17. Yüzyılda Bir Valide Sultanın Günlük Hayatı: Vâlide Hadîce Turhan Sultan
Bu makale IV. Mehmed´in vâlidesi Hadîce Turhan Sultan´ın ölümünden sonra kalan eşyalarının kaydedildiği muhallefat defterini inceleyerek 17. yüzyılda valide sultanların hayatı hakkında ayrıntılı bilgiler vermektedir. Vâlide Sultan´ın oturma ve yatak odasının döşemeleri, giydiği elbiseleri ve kaftanlarının kumaş türleri, kürkleri, mücevherleri, saatleri ve makyaj malzemeleri yaninda yemeklerini hangi kaplarda yediği, kahve takımları ve mutfağında kullanılan kap, kaşık ve su bardakları da bu defterde görülmektedir. Sonuç olarak Hadîce Turhan Sultan´ın, Osmanlı Devleti´nin güç ve kudretine yakışır bir şekilde hayat sürdüğü görülmektedir.
