Evaluations on Some Seljuk Hans Which Belong to Anatolian Seljuk Period in Konya and its Environs

Hans and caravanserais built within the settlement period of Anatolian Seljuks make up the group of structural bodies whose line of development are traced best in terms of plans, architectural and ornamental properties. What makes it possible to trace the development is the fact that they were built for soical and economic purposes. They are to reflect the conception, economic and social structucture of the particular period. Hans in Konya and it environs are of significance in terms of being the first examples of the hans and the precursors of those to follow. It is therefore that the hans particularly in Konya environs poses typological characteristics worthy of being examined. In addition, these structures are of importance to evaluate the artistic applications in Konya - Kayseri - Sivas hans and caravanserais as well as other structures in Anatolia.

Anadolu´da Selçuklu döneminin yapılaşma süreci içerisinde hanlar/kervansaraylar plan, mimari ve süsleme özellikleri yönleriyle gelişim çizgisini en iyi izleye bildiğimiz yapı grubunu oluşturuyorlar. Bunda en büyük etken sosyal ve ekonomik amaçlı olarak yapılmalarıdır. Döneminin düşünce, ekonomik ve sosyal yapısının da yansıtıcısı durumundadırlar. Konya ve çevresinde bulunan hanlar döneminin ilk yapı örnekleri olmaları bakımından önem taşımakla birlikte daha sonra ki örneklerinin öncüsü durumdadırlar. Bu nedenle özelinde Konya ve çevresinde bulunan hanların plan tipolojisi yönleriyle incelenmesi önemli görünmektedir. Diğer yandan, Konya- Kayseri- Sivas ve diğer alanlarda ki sanatsal uygulamaların belirlenmesi, Anadolu genelinde ki yapısal ortamın değerlendirilmesi bakımından da katkı sağlayacak yöndedir.
