From the Industrial Revolution to Today: Regional Development Awareness in the Perspective of Social Politics
For many years, regional development has not been of interest to both academia and policy makers. Differences in regional development lead to the loss of social justice and makes some regions loss their advantages. This situation is accompanied by the fact that regional development takes place within the main fields of study of social policy science. The 1929 crisis has an important place in the formation of the regional development awareness. Although vertical inequalities increase with industrial revolution, the increase of horizontal inequality is not serious. This prevented the regional development awareness till the 1929 crisis. The mass unemployment problem, which has been experienced in the great depression, has not shown the same violence in every country and even in every region of cities in every country under the influence of Fordist production. This has also triggered regional awareness of development. In the welfare state period, the regional development awareness has continued with its theoretical bases. After the oil crisis, the increase in regional development disparities brought the awareness to a higher level. In short, regional development has taken its place in the main fields of social policy science since the crisis of 1929.

Sanayi İnkılâbından Günümüze Sosyal Politika Perspektifiyle Bölgesel Gelişmişlik Farkındalığı
Bölgesel gelişmişlik, uzun yıllar boyunca hem akademik camiada hem de politika uygulayıcılarınca ilgi alanı dışında kalmıştır. Bölgesel gelişmişlikteki farklılıklar, sosyal adaleti zedeleyip kimi bölgelerin dezavantajlı duruma gelmelerine yol açmaktadır. Bu durum ise bölgesel gelişmişliğin sosyal politika biliminin temel çalışma alanları içinde yer almasını beraberinde getirmektedir. Bölgesel gelişmişlik farkındalığının oluşumunda 1929 bunalımı önemli bir yere sahiptir. Sanayi inkılabıyla birlikte dikey eşitsizlikler artsa da yatay eşitsizlik artışı ciddi düzeyde değildir. Bu durum, 1929 bunalımına kadar bölgesel gelişmişlik farkındalığını engellemiştir. Büyük bunalımla yaşanan kitlesel işsizlik sorunu, Fordist üretim yapısının da etkisiyle bütün ülkelerde ve kentlerde ve hatta kentlerin her bölgesinde aynı şiddette etki göstermemiştir. Bu durum bölgesel gelişmişlik farkındalığını tetiklemiştir. Refah devleti döneminde de bölgesel gelişmişlik farkındalığı, teorik temellere kavuşarak sürmüştür. Petrol krizi sonrasında da bölgesel gelişmişlik farklılıkların artışı, beraberinde farkındalığı daha da üst düzeye taşımıştır. Kısacası bölgesel gelişmişlik 1929 bunalımından itibaren sosyal politika biliminin temel çalışma alanları içerisindeki yerini almıştır.
