Historical Development of Magazine Publishing in Gümüşhane and the First Step on the Way to Knowledge Magazine
This article examines the magazine publication in the city of Gümüşhane in general and the first Gümüşhane press publication The First Step on the Way to Knowledge magazine in particular. Although the fortnightly magazine, which was launched on April 15, 1924-six months after the declaration of the Turkish republic-lasted only three issues, it is one of the rare local sources that reflected the influence of the republic on the cultural, social and economic structure of the Gümüşhane residents. This article reveals that the education focus of the magazine was in line with the republic´s aim to educate people.

Gümüşhane´de Dergiciliğin Tarihi Gelişimi ve İrfan Yolunda İlk Adım Dergisi
Bu makale Gümüşhane Vilayeti´ndeki dergicilik faaliyetleri ve vilayetteki ilk basın organı olan `İrfan Yolunda İlk Adım´ adlı dergiyi incelemektedir. Cumhuriyetin ilanından 6 ay sonra 15 Nisan 1924 tarihinde yayına başlayan bu dergi her ne kadar sadece 3 sayı ayakta durabilmişse de, cumhuriyetin Gümüşhane halkının kültürel, sosyal ve ekonomik yapısı üzerindeki etkilerini yansıtan nadir bir yerel kaynaktır. Bu makalede eğitim ağırlıklı olarak çıkan `İrfan Yolunda İlk Adım´ dergisinin cumhuriyetin halkı eğitme hedefi doğrultusunda yayın yaptığı tesbit edilmektedir.
