Rustem Pasha Mosque In Kastamonu Talipler Village

Rustem Pasha Mosque, which has a special place among the mosques of the Ottoman period Kastamonu, is the subject of our paper. Rustem Pasha Mosque, known by different names such as Menekse Mosque, Mahmut Efendi Mosque, Divan Mosque, is located on a high hill in the area of Menekse (Benefse) Mountain within the borders of Talipler Village of Kastamonu province. Rectangular planned structure, also shows a very simple and functional structure features with its single balcony minaret construction. The mosque, which has not been examined in detail in terms of its architectural features before, is among the mosques with wooden roofs. The mosque is especially very important in terms of having a different roofing system such as dovetail ceiling, beside the other domed mosques of Rüstem Pasha the grand vizier of the period. In this paper, the mosque is introduced and detailly examined with its historical, architectural and decorative features.The dovetail ceiling is evaluated in terms of its use in Anatolian and Ottoman architecture.

Osmanlı Dönemi Kastamonu Camileri arasında özel bir yere sahip olan Rüstem Paşa Camii çalışmamızın konusunu oluşturmaktadır. "Menekşe Camii, Mahmut Efendi Camii, Divan Camii" gibi farklı isimlerle anılan Rüstem Paşa Camii Kastamonu ilinin Talipler Köyü sınırları içindeki Menekşe (Benefşe) Dağı mevkiinde, yüksek bir tepede yer almaktadır. Dikdörtgen planlı yapı, tek şerefeli minare kurgusu ile de oldukça sade ve işlevsel bir yapı özelliği göstermektedir. Mimari özellikleri bakımından daha önce detaylı bir şekilde incelenmeyen cami ahşap sakıflı camiler arasında yer almaktadır. Özellikle dönemin baş veziri Rüstem Paşa´nın diğer kubbeli camileri yanında kırlangıç tavan gibi farklı bir örtü sistemine sahip olması bakımından oldukça önemlidir. Bu çalışmada söz konusu cami tarihi, mimari ve süsleme özellikleri ile tanıtılarak detaylı bir şekilde incelenmiştir. Kırlangıç tavan örtüsünün Anadolu ve Osmanlı mimarisindeki kullanımı açısından değerlendirmesi yapılmıştır.
