Eskibatı'da (Hellas) Genelev Kültürü ve Fahişelik

Antik dünyada erkeklerin kadın bedeni üzerinden cinsel haz ihtiyaçları doğrultusunda yeni bir iş kolu olarak doğan fahişelik, önemli bir sosyal kurumdur. İnsanlık tarihi boyunca, verdiği hizmet dolayısıyla toplumun tutucu kesimleri tarafından eleştiri konusu olmuştur. Ancak, özellikle cinsel sataşma olmak üzere saldırganlık sonuçlu toplum kaosunun önüne geçen mekanizması sayesinde sosyal yaşantıda gereklidir. Kaynaklar doğrultusunda da bu gerekliliğin farkına varanların, ilk olarak Mezopotamya medeniyetleri olduğunu söyleyebiliriz. Fahişeliğin, yönetimdeki güçlerin denetiminde devam etmesiyle bu kurum kendi içerisinde önemli bir yapıya bürünmüştür. Hellenlerin de bu pastadan payını almaları, cinselliğe açık bir kültüre sahip olmalarından ötürü, uzun sürmemiştir. Fahişelik kurumu, kendi kendini idame ettiren bir çarka dönüşüp esaslara sahip olmasıyla birlikte, devletin işini kolaylaştırmıştır. Özellikle Solon yasalarıyla beraber, dönemin arz-talep ilişkisinde tüm potansiyeliyle çalışmış bir yapı olmuştur. Şüphesiz bu yapının çalışması cinsel haz yaşayan vatandaşlardan çok, devletin kendisine katkı sağlamıştır. Fahişelik kurumu, Hellen tarihine mali, siyasi, kültürel kısacası Hellen toplumu içerisindeki her alana dâhil olmuş, araştırmaya değer sosyal bir konudur.

Prostitution, which was born in the ancient world as a new business in line with the sexual pleasure needs of men over the female body, is an important social institution. Throughout human history, it has been the subject of criticism by the conservative sections of society due to the service it provides. However, it is necessary in social life thanks to the mechanism that prevents social chaos caused by aggression, especially sexual taunt. In line with the sources, we can say that the first to realize this requirement are the Mesopotamian civilizations. As the prostitution continues under the control of the forces in the administration, this institution has become an important structure in itself. It did not take long because the Hellenes took their share from this cake because they had a culture open to sexuality. With the prostitution institution turning into a self-sustaining wheel and having essentials, it made the job of the state easier. Especially with the laws of Solon, it was a structure that worked with its full potential in the supply-demand relationship of the period. Undoubtedly, the work of this structure has contributed to the state itself rather than the citizens who have sexual pleasure. The prostitution institution is a social, worthwhile research topic that has been included in the history of Hellens financially, politically and culturally, in every field within the Hellenic society.
