Osmanlı Devleti'nde Müzeciliğin Doğuşu ve Dersaadet Numunehane-i Osmani
Özet Osmanlı Devleti´nde çağdaş anlamda müzecilik çalışmaları 19. yüzyılın ikinci yarısında başlamıştır. Sultan Abdülmecid, Yalova çevresine yaptığı bir gezide dikkatini çeken Bizans dönemine ait eski eserlerin İstanbul´a gönderilmesini emretmişti. Eserler Aya İrini´de toplandı. Daha sonra ilk müze müdürü olarak E. Good görevlendirildi. Aynı zamanda vilayetlere bir genelge gönderilerek bütün tarihi eserlerin tahrip edilmeden müzeye gönderilmesi istendi. Good´dan sonra müze müdürlüğü görevine Anton Dethier getirildi. Onun zamanında Aya İrini´deki eserler Çinili Köşk´e taşındı. Dethier´in ölümü üzerine Osman Hamdi Bey, ilk Türk müze müdürü olarak göreve başladı. Bu arada ülkedeki müzecilik çalışmalarına Dersaadet Ticaret Odası da ilgi duymaya başladı. Ticaret Odasının yaptığı girişimler sonucunda İstanbul´da Dersaadet Numunehane-i Osmani kuruldu.

Born of The Museology in Ottoman Empire and
Museology in a modern sense in the Ottoman Empire began in the second half of the 19th century. Sultan Abdulmecid ordered the antique pieces of Byzantine era which he saw at a trip he made in the region of Yalova to be sent to Istanbul. The pieces were collected in the Hagia Irini. The collection was reorganized during the administration of the grand vizier Âli Pasha and was named in 1869 as Müze-i Hümayun (Imperial Museum) by the minister of education Saffet Pasha. Later, E. Good was nominated as the first curator of the museum. During this time, a circular was sent to the provinces demanding all antique pieces to be sent carefully to the museum. Anton Dethier succeeded Good as curator. During his time, the collections in the Hagia Irini were moved to the Çinili Köşk (the Tiled Manor). After the death of Dethier, Osman Hamdi Bey toke Office as the first Turkish Curator of the museum. The time of Osman Hamdi Bey saw many innovations in museology. Meanwhile, the Chamber of Commerce of Istanbul began taking interest into museology and advocated a Museum of Commerce that was supposed to be helpful in advancing commerce. The Dersaadet Numunehane-i Osmani was founded on the initiative of the Chamber.
