Fetihten 19. Yüzyıla Kadar Trabzon Şehri´nin Mahalleleri
Şehirlerin damarları mesabesindeki mahallelerin tarihini yazmak bir şehrin özüne nüfuz edebilmek açısından mühimdir. Anadolu´da tarihi en iyi incelenen şehirlerden olan Trabzon´un mahallelerine dair de kısmî bazı çalışmalar kaleme alınmış; fakat derli toplu olarak Osmanlı dönemi Trabzon´unun mahallelerini ele alan bir çalışma henüz kaleme alınmamıştır. Bu istikamette Trabzon´un Osmanlı İmparatorluğu tarafından fethinden 19. yüzyıla kadar olan mahallelerinin yüzyıl yüzyıl cereyan eden değişimler ve süreklilikler gözetilerek tespit edilmesi bir noktada şehrin tarih içerisindeki muhtevasının da belli bir kısmının ortaya çıkarılması demektir. Dolayısıyla bu yazıda gerek daha önce yapılan çalışmaların bir araya getirilmesi gerekse arşiv belgelerinin taranması ile elde edilen veriler, yüzyıllar itibariyle tablolar halinde sunularak derli toplu bir mahalleler envanteri ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu tespit işlemine 15. ve 16. yüzyıllar için tahrir defterleri, 17. ve 18. yüzyıllar için ise avarız defterleri ile şer`iye sicilleri ve hurufat defterleri kaynaklık etmektedir.

The Neighborhoods of Trabzon from the Conquest to the XIXth Century
Writing the history of neighborhoods, function as the veins of cities is crucial in penetrating the essence of a city. Some partial studies have been done on the neighborhoods of the city of Trabzon, which is one of the best historically examined cities in Anatolia, however an extensive study that deals with the neighborhoods of Trabzon in the Ottoman period has not been written yet. In this respect, determination of the neighborhoods of Trabzon century by century, from the conquest by the Ottoman Empire to the XIXth century by observing the changes and continuities, in a sense means revealing the meaning of a great deal of the city in history. Hence, in this paper, both previous studies have been brought together and the obtained data by scannings of archival documents are presented in tabular forms by centuries and attempted to reveal a comprehensive inventory of neighborhoods. This identification process is based on the tahrir registers for the XVth and XVIth centuries, and avarız registers, sharia court records and hurufat registers for the XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries.
