Gelenekten Moderne Tarsus´ta Tarımsal Dönüşüm (1839-1856)
Bir tarım devleti olan Osmanlı İmparatorluğu´nun 19. yüzyılda gelişen kapitalist ekonomik dönüşümden etkilenme süreci gerek merkezde gerekse taşrada oldukça ilginç veriler ortaya çıkarmıştır. Bu çalışmada, batıda Sanayi Devrimi sonrası tarımsal üretime dayalı kapitalizmin gelişmesinin Tarsus´taki yansımaları incelenmiştir. Merkezde tarım sektörüne yönelik kurumsal anlamdaki gelişmelerin, taşrada ticari tarıma geçiş ve üretim potansiyelindeki artışla sonuçlanması ulaşılan en önemli sonuçlardan biridir.

From Tradition to Modern: Agricultural Transformation in Tarsus (1839-1856)
The articulation of the Ottoman Empire, which was actually based on agricultural production, with the world economic system during the 19th century exposed quite interesting results in both central and provincial cities. This study, analyzes the impacts of agricultural capitalism that evolved with the Industrial Revolution on the Ottoman Empire and the ramifications of this impact in Tarsus. One of the most important results of this process was that institutional changes in the center regarding the agricultural sector had led to a transition to commercial farming and an increase in the production potential.
