Hatay´da Siyasi Çekişmeler ve Türkiye´nin Politikası (1936-1938)

Ankara Anlaşmasıyla İskenderun Sancağı´nda manda yönetimini kuran Fransa, onbeş yıl sonra 1936´da Suriye´deki bağımsızlık isteklerini de göz önünde bulundurarak bölgeyi Suriye´ye bağlamak istemiştir. Durumu fark eden Türkiye mevcut şartların yeni bir hukuki zemin meydana getirdiği tezinden hareketle Fransa´nın planına müdahale etmiştir. Bölgedeki Türkler ile irtibata geçerek Sancağın bir oldu bittiye getirilerek Suriye´ye verilmesini engelleme yoluna gitmiştir. Netice itibariyle de toplum Suriye yanlısı ve Türk taraftarı olmak üzere ikiye bölünmüştür. Sonuçta da çatışma çıkması kaçınılmaz olmuştur. Türkiye meseleyi Cemiyet-i Akvam´a götürerek uluslar arası hukuk içersinde çözmeyi istemiştir. Kısmen elde ettiği başarılı netice sonrası Fransa ile ikili görüşme siyasetini benimsemiş ve 2 Eylül 1938´de Hatay Devleti´ni kurdurmaya muvaffak olmuştur.

With the agreements of Ankara, France had a mandate to the Sanjak of Iskenderun. Fifteen years later in 1936, given the desire for independence from Syria, France tried to link the region to Syria. Turkey who perceived the situation, considering that the condition existing preparing a new legal basis, has immediately intervened to prevent the plan from happening. Turkey came into contact with the local population to prevent the Sanjak to be tied to Syria. Therefore, the society was divided into pro-Syrian and pro-Turkish. Thus, the conflict became inevitable. Turkey wanted to solve the case within international law by appealing to Cemiyet-Akvam. After obtaining partial results, bilateral meetings with France were taken seriously and the September 2, 1938 Turkey has managed to ensure Republic of Hatay to be created.
