NORMAN LİDER ROBERT GUISCARD’IN BİZANS (DOĞU ROMA) İLE MÜCADELESİ
Kavimler Göçü’nün etkisi hemen hemen tüm Avrupa’yı etkiledi. Bu etki günümüz Avrupa’sının oluşumunda önemli bir unsur oldu. Roma’nın barbar diye nitelendirdiği bu kavimler Avrupa içlerinde kendilerine bir yer edinme çabası içerisine girdiler. Vikingler de bu kavimlerden biriydi ve onlar hem gemicilik hem de savaş mahareti bakımından etkindi. Daha sonra Norman kimliği ile tarih sahnesinde yerini alan bu kavim yayılmacı ve istilacı bir siyaset yürütmekteydi. Zamanla İtalya’da hâkimiyeti sağladılar. Bu kavmin içerisinde kendinden söz ettiren liderlerden biri de şüphesiz Robert Guiscard idi. Bu lider İtalya hâkimiyeti sonrası yayılmacı politikalara devam ederek Bizans kontrolündeki Balkanlara saldırdı. Bizans’a da hâkim olarak imparator olmak istiyordu ve bu gaye için Bizans ile mücadeleye girişti. Çalışmamızın amacı Norman lider Robert Guiscard ile Bizans mücadelesini değerlendirmektir. Bu doğrultuda IX. yüzyıl Bizans ve Norman siyasî tarihindeki ilişkilerle ilgili bakış açısı kazandırmayı hedeflemektedir.

NORMAN LEADER ROBERT GUISCARD'S FIGHT WITH BYZANTINE (EASTERN ROME)
The influence of the Migration of Tribes affected almost all of Europe. This influence has been an important factor in the formation of today’s Europe. These tribes, which Rome described as barbarian, tried to find a place for themselves in Europe. The Vikings were one of these tribes, and they were active in both navigation and war skills. This tribe, which later took its place on the stage of history with its Norman identity, carried out a publishing and invasive policy. Over time, they gained dominance in Italy. One of the leaders who made for himself in this tribe was undoubtedly Robert Guiscard. This leader continued the expansionist policies after the Italian domination and attacked the Balkans under the control of Byzantium. He wanted to be the emperor by dominating Byzantium, and for this purpose he started a struggle whit Byzantium. The aim of our study is to evaluate the Byzamtine struggle with the Norman leader Robert Guiscard. In this direction, ıt aims to give a perspective on the relations in the Byzantine and Norman political history of the 9th century.
