Suriye'ye İlk Telgraf Hatlarının Çekilmesi
Bu çalışmada Suriye´ye ilk telgraf hatlarının çekilmesi konusu ele alınmıştır. Kırım Savaşı sırasında telgrafla tanışan Osmanlı Devleti, bu yeni haberleşme teknolojisini kısa zamanda benimsedi. Savaş sonrası ilk hatlar İstanbul ve Rumeli şehirleri arasında çekildikten sonra Anadolu´ya geçildi. Üsküdar ve Bağdat arasında çekilen telgraf hattı, Anadolu´nun telgrafla tanışmasını sağladığı gibi kısa zamanda yaygınlaşmasına da vesile oldu. Suriye ise Lübnan olayları nedeniyle Beyrut´ta görevlendirilen Hariciye Nazırı Mehmed Fuad Paşa´nın isteği doğrultusunda Beyrut ve Şam arasında çekilen hat sayesinde telgrafa kavuştu. Bunun ardından da daha geniş kitlelerin telgrafla tanışmasını sağlayan Beyrut-Lazkiye-Halep telgraf hattı çekildi. Bu hat Diyarbakır´dan Halep´e kadar uzatılan bir hat ile Üsküdar Bağdat telgraf hattı ile birleştirilerek Suriye´nin İstanbul ile irtibatı sağlandı. Ardından da Beyrut´tan Mısır sınırındaki Ariş´e bir hat çekilerek bölgenin ikinci harici bağlantısı kurulmuş oldu

First Telgraph Lines to be Installed Through Syria
In this work, the matter that first telegraph lines are installed through Syria was taken up. The Ottoman Government that met with the telegraph at the time of Crimea War, adopted this novel communication technology device in a short time. After the war and first lines were installed among Istanbul and Rumeli cities, there was Anatolia in the row. The telegraph line instaled between Uskudar and Baghdat, both provided Anatolia with being acquainted with the telegraph and also in a brief period became an oppurtunity for its being spreoded through there. By the way, Syria regained the telegraph on accounts of the events lived in Lebanon, following the Foreign Affairs Minester Mehmed Fuad Pasha´s wish, thanks to the line having been installed between Beirut and Damascus. Soon after this, Beirut-Latakia-Aleppo telegraph line that secured wider masses getting acquainted with the telegraph, was made installed with the help of the line combined with both the line installed between Diyarbakır and Aleppo and also Üsküdar-Baghdat telegraph line, the liaison through Syria and Istanbul was obtained. Behind this, by the means that a line was installed from Beirut to Arish in the borders of Egypt, the external connection of the region was made installed.
