Azerbaycan'da Ulusal Tarih Yazımı

Sovyet halkları arasında yer alan Türkdilli halklar geç elde ettikleri bağımsızlıklarının meşruiyetini pekiştirmek amacıyla ulusun ve devletin biricikliğine atıfta bulunan toprak, bayrak, dil, tarih ve benzeri objeleri ulusçuluk temelinde yeniden dizayn etmişlerdir. Bu çerçevede siyasal tercihini ulusdevlet anlayışından yana yapan Azerbaycan, ulusçu bir anlayışla tarihine ve kimliğine yeni bir şekil vermeye başlamıştır. Bu çalışmada yeni kurulan bir ulusdevletin, tarihi nasıl kurgulaması gerektiği ya da tarihin ulusdevlet inşasında nasıl bir rol oynadığı ya da oynaması gerektiği yönündeki kuramsal savlar, Azerbaycan tarihçiliği üzerinden somutlaştırılmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu bağlamda; bağımsızlık sonrası ulusdevlet temelinde yapılandırılmaya çalışılan Azerbaycan Cumhuriyeti´nin ulusal tarih yazım süreci bu makalenin konusunu oluşturmuştur

A new world order was established in the 20th century after the nationalist idea had turned into action. In this new world order, great empires had to leave their places to nation states which emerged in them. This change at the beginning of the century was only a transformation - for the peoples of Russia - which remained limited to the regime. As a matter of fact, the empire was destroyed; however, the nation states did not emerge as had been expected. In truth, Bolsheviks did not allow such a thing. These peoples were able to achieve their independence after the dissolution of the Soviet Union at the end of the century. In order to consolidate the legitimacy of their delayed independence, the peoples who speak the Turkish language among the Soviet nations designed their lands, flags, languages, history and similar object which referred to the uniqueness of the nation and the state on the basis of the nationalism. In this respect, Azerbaijan, which made its political choice in favour of the nation-state, started to re-design its history and identity with a national perspective. However, the national historiography of Azerbaijan has never had a permanent shape since this process has developed in line with the political unrest after independence.
